Rejection of Guide Dogs by Taxi Drivers

I just found a report i tend to find rather offensive in some ways. It suggests that Muslim Taxi Drivers will refuse entry to a Taxi for a Disabled or Vision Impaired person when they have a Guide Dog or Assistance Dog.
I find this to be extremely short sighted by these taxi drivers as their religious belief states that animals are Unclean. Every single Guide Dog i have ever met has been the most clean and well looked after animals around.
What amazes me is that these people certainly wouldn't stop and think twice about refusing a guide dog for their own needs if it ever arose but they will not allow a dog into the car???

Just a note, because we live
Just a note, because we live in one of the largest Muslim population areas in the world, Detroit MIchigan USA, and we live very close to a leader dog school; I know that they would refuse the services of a guide dog too if they were blind. They might go for a guide mini horse, but they would never go for a guide dog. If something is unclean in one part of your life, it's unclean in all parts. Many blind people decide not to go with a guide animal at all, whatever their religion, disliking the mess and clean up factors it adds to their lives.

Hi Heather,
Having not had much to do with the General Muslim community here i am only going on what i have experienced. I do know of several Muslims here in Australia that are currently using Guide Dogs. Maybe it is more of a personal thing and how far they take their beliefs.
My Main concern of course here is that if my Daughter will go thru this kind of problem i would like to know about it ahead of time so i can prepare her for it.
