Puppies to Guide Dogs

Guide Dog open day - it was wonderful to see the support for this wonderful organization. To be able to attend and learn first hand how these wonderful people and dogs work together to be able to attain the standard that enables "Guide Dogs" to give mobility to the V.I. person was truely incredable.
We were amazed at the number in attendance. The whole place was a buzz with not only puppies and dogs in training but also many people attended with their working dogs along with retired and breeding dogs.
To the wonderful people who so freely give their time to caring for puppies, prior to training and to those who take dogs on retirment, each of you is a "special" person.
There was a real carnival atmosphere with stalls, food, fairy floss, face painting etc and each age group was catered for in some way. One was able to buy linen, toys and numerous other items with funds going straight to the cost of training for another Guide Dog, which is done at a huge cost.
Our little Caitlyn had no fear whatsoever of the dogs and each dog that she was "introduced to" was not at all put out by her pulling their fur.
Its a day that I will long remember in that these beautiful dogs will give not only mobility, but love and companionship, to their carer/handler
Thank you to each and every person involved in their training, breeding and last but not least the dogs themselves for what they do.
Cheers Mooty
