Visit to Narbethong

Well, where do i start???

We had a visit to the low vision clinic in Buranda on wednesday. This is part of the Narbethong Centre. I cannot say enough about the services and support that are provided there.

To start with, one of the Teachers there took us for a tour for nearly an hour. They put Caitlyn into several of the "training aids" that they have including the little room and the hammock.

Caitlyn had an absolute ball playing in the little room. she was there for a good 5 minutes. I will post details of what the little room is as soon as i can get detailed information about it. I quick and simple terms it is a "box" or "little room" where there are many things suspended from the roof of the little room that the child can play with. The floor is also made of thin plywood and raised off the ground so that it can become a resonance board.

We where so impressed by their support and "friendship"
that we all left in a really worn out state. It was a really long day (which didn't end just there but that is another story).

They have also asked if Caitlyn can enroll next year in playgroup. This totally stunned us as we wheren't expecting that sort of service at her age. We will be organising to catch the train up each week to allow Caitlyn the best available services.

Well i will post more information about the "little room" when i get the literature. I will most likely create a new menu option to allow for it to remain permanently on the website.
